2022 youth stamp design competition
Protect the environment
The Groupement Philatélique Régional Languedoc-Roussillon is organizing a “youth” stamp design competition in 2022, from April 15 to June 15, open to young people aged 6 to 18.
This will be an opportunity for children and teenagers to put forward their own vision and illustration of environmental preservation, to promote free appropriation of this theme and to discover the evocative power of stamps.
Young people are invited to design their own postage stamp on the theme of environmental protection, giving free rein to their imagination and creating their own stamp.
It’s well worth taking part! As well as winning great prizes (gift vouchers, collections, stamps, specialized books, collectors’ materials and more), for some it could be the chance to get started in philately, a cultural activity par excellence.
How to get involved
Using the stamp template (download here) as a model, create your own “preserve the environment” stamp:
- felt-tip pen, colored pencil, paint or other, drawing or collage, with or without caption text,
- indicate on the back of the drawing: first and last name, age and address (postal AND e-mail),
- send the drawing to J.L. Icher, 18 Rue Fernandel, 11000 Carcassonne, before June 15, 2022.
The jury will deliberate at the end of June and the winners will be informed of their prize, so that they can collect it or receive it by post.
For ideas, here’s an excerpt from a text on environmental protection (in Wikipedia) and a poster.
“Environmental protection means taking steps to reduce the negative impact that human beings have on the environment and nature.
According to most scientists, the Earth is in danger from man-made pollution, which is damaging the environment and producing imbalances, such as global warming.
There are measures we can take to combat these phenomena and preserve our environment. Here are a few that we can all implement:
- sort your garbage. Don’t forget that some children, less fortunate, dream of having your games or the clothes you no longer wear!
- don’t litter.
- doesn’t touch wild animals, especially young ones, as their parents might otherwise abandon them.
- adopt good daily habits: turn off the light when you’re not in the room, don’t run more water than you need when brushing your teeth, don’t leave the TV or computer on when you’re not using it…
- avoid taking the car for short trips…”.
